The ESL Program at North Buncombe Elementary School services children in speaking, listening, reading and writing fluently in English. Various strategies such as co-teaching, direct services collaborating with classroom teachers to instruct students, and students also receive small group instruction in the ESL classroom.
All students who have another language listed on their Home Language Survey on their school registration form are tested for eligibility to receive ESL services. North Carolina uses the WIDA test to determine the level of English language proficiency.
