Students at North Buncombe Elementary took their learning outside this past school year, thanks to a partnership with Project Explore.

The experience gave students the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and immerse themselves in nature through hands-on learning activities. They explored the outdoors, observed local plants and wildlife, and learned the importance of protecting the environment.

Project Explore guided students through activities that connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences. Along the way, students asked questions, made observations, and discovered new things about the natural world around them.

Teachers said the outdoor learning experiences engaged students in meaningful ways while encouraging teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking. The activities also provided students with the chance to be active, explore their surroundings, and develop a greater appreciation for nature.

North Buncombe Elementary appreciated the partnership with Project Explore and the opportunities it provided for students to learn through exploration. By the end of the experience, students had gained new knowledge, created lasting memories, and discovered that learning can happen anywhere.
