Horne, Mary Ellen-EC Teacher

Welcome to my Classroom
North Buncombe Elementary

Virtual Days Office Hours: 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

During these Virtual Learning days I will be delivering my instruction through a combination of learning packets and online activities through SeeSaw that I will be sharing with your child’s teacher, specific to your child. In most cases, your child should try to access his or her general education teacher’s assignments first, then access my learning packet.

I can be reached at the above email address during the above hours; however, you can contact me by email at any time and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner if it is outside my “office hours.” Should you want to speak with me in person, please email me with the appropriate phone number.

Hi!   I am Mary Ellen Horne and I teach Resource with grades K-4.  I have been teaching since 1984.  I graduated from Keuka College in the Finger Lakes of NY with a BS in Elementary and Special Education.  I have an MS in Elementary Education with a reading emphasis from Cortland University.  I have been teaching in a variety of special education classrooms in Western NC since 1996.
I grew up in the mountains of Northwestern PA, which is very similar to Western NC, so I feel right at home.  I enjoy working part-time at the Biltmore Estate Winery as a Grape Stomp facilitator.  I enjoy traveling, reading and taking day trips to nearby attractions.  I also enjoy playing handbells and the piano.
I look forward to an exciting year!
