Duncan, Stephanie-Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!
Stephanie Duncan
Kindergarten is an action-packed year (the best year ever!), full of learning, fun, and memory-making experiences!  My assistant, Mrs. Sherrill, and I look forward to interacting with your child this year and fostering an excitement about learning!  This is Mrs. Sherrill's seventh year with me in kindergarten and she is as excited as I am!  We're ready to dig in and have a blast!
I attended Appalachian State (Go, Mountaineers!) and graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education (K-4).  I have received my National Board Certification and completed graduate school with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  Never stop learning! I live in Marshall with my husband, Dean, our dog and three cats.
This is my 28th year of teaching (Time flies when you're having fun!), as well as my 28th year in kindergarten, and my 26th at NBES.  I like to make sure fun and learning go hand-in-hand.  Positive attitudes toward academics need to be fostered in kindergarten so the next 12 years will be a terrific experience!
Hands-on activities are an important part of our day.  From Math Workshop to Wonder Wednesday, from Writers' Workshop to our Center Time, kids often find themselves knee-deep and up to their elbows in learning fun!  After all, if you can't get a little glue, glitter (Everything is better with a little sparkle!), paint, and marker on your hands (or face, or shirt, or elbow, or shoes...), how fun could it be?!
The 2020-2021 school year has started like no other year! Despite social distancing, wearing masks, and Zoom sessions, it's going to be a great year and we'll make the most of it! We definitely have action-packed days and sleep well at night!
Up, up, and away!
